And it’s big news from NYNHB

Boy it’s been quiet around here hasn’t it. Well that’s because a few months ago something big happened……The Boyfriend and I decided to move back to Sydney. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do, for a while (that’s code for 3 days after I arrived back in the UK six years ago and it snowed) but the fates actually aligned in ways that allowed it to become a reality back in May.

Since then virtually every weekend has been taken up clearing out the house, decorating the house, planning, packing which hasn’t really left any time at all for blogging – or when I did have time, I hadn’t had the chance to actually try anything out so had nothing to write about – trust me, there has been extreme bloggers guilt over here. But on Friday all our possessions bar a couple of suitcases and lot of a laptops were loaded into a van ready to take the 3 month trip across the sea down under. And we leave on Thursday.

Now I admit, the timing wasn’t completely brilliant – we couldn’t prolong our departure long enough for me to go to Paris to run the Disneyland Half Marathon – nor could we leave sooner so I could come back from Oz to run it – the flight is just too long and too spendy, so I’ve had to let that dream go (and yes I am welling up a little bit even as I write it as I was so excited, but….big picture Helen, think big picture).

Annoyingly, I’m going through Hong Kong on my way to Oz and Disney just announced a run there this year too and I’ll miss that by a few weeks, but there’s always next year for both races. I did have a big GRRRRR moment when I asked if I could defer my place and got a very French ‘c’est IMPOSSIBLE’ back by email – so not only have I lost over £600 I’ve got to do the entry scrum again next year if I do decide to run it. As a consolation prize though I have entered the 9km Sydney bridge run on September 18th – I didn’t think I was quite up to training for a half while packing boxes and drinking ALL the Prosecco in London.

So, you may be asking what does this mean from NYNHB – if I’m honest, right now, I don’t know. I’m still going to be exercising in Sydney, I’d be the size of a small country if I didn’t – all my leaving dos are already taking their toll – so I might still continue it, but, there’s a blog I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now and I think this might be the time to start it. I’ve bought the name – and some of the fitness side of what I do on here might fit on there but it’s got more of travel/lifestyle feel to it. So, from now, with NYNHB it’s a case of let’s see how it all unfolds. I’m taking the next three weeks off work to move so don’t expect any updates from me either way for a while, but once I know what’s happening I’ll let you all know.

In the meantime, why not follow me on instagram and you’ll see where I am on my travels – I’ve got a new name over there now too, which may give you a clue as to the new blogs name – if not its direction. Follow me at

So right now, that’s it from me, It’s been a blast over the last few years, but let’s see what the future holds….watch this space. this thing on? Talk to me, it's lonely down here
