Again, my odd little ways have been proved useful by scientists. I normally have to go to the gym after work. This is not my natural workout time. I am a morning person. But a morning person with no car and a gym that’s a 10 minute drive from home can’t be fussy! By gym time however enthusiasm has often left the building and I regularly have to force myself out of the door. Come 3pm therefore, if I can feel my will power waning I will often put on my gym kit and sit typing in it until it’s time to finish work.
Seems this is a good plan. Researchers at Northwestern University in Illinois have found that putting on clothing appropriate to a task puts you in the frame of mind to do said tast – making it more likely that it will happen. Ergo, put on your gym kit and you will be more likely to exercise. Now, if I could only come up with a ‘let’s do my filing’ outfit.
